How can an international court benefit the United States?
It's for my affirmative LD case for speech and debate. My first argument is talking about how an international court can monitor US actions to see if they are considered lawful. My second argument is about how the United States can benefit from an international court. I need one more argument, please help? Btw, my affirmation value would be societal welfare and how the United States is bad for society and can benefit from an international court. Thanks,

you have to remember to go outside what is best for the u.s.
though "societal welfare" is important, i would try to go with a value that would benefit the entire world.
Basically, i would try to make your contentions something about how the united states would be able to try people in other nations that are committing crimes against humanity, therefore we can ultimately decrease the amount of crimes against humanity.
an example of this is saying how if the U.S. were to join, we could try another country in the court (like if sudan was in it) and try the people who are committing genocide in sudan right now, thus stopping it.
that's really the direction you should be going, because that is what will win you the most debates, i promise you.
the neg can easily say that the united states would actually receive no benefits and only cause harm to the society.
I suppose though, if you want to make your case more about the u.s. then that would be fine, but the aff really should be concentrating about welfare around the world.
(just letting you know what the strongest case would be)

oh. but the basically answer your first question, it wouldn't necessarily benefit the u.s. that greatly, but it would benefit others in other nations.
